Creating an Artificial Lake Volkswagen Environmental protection

A water biotope in the grounds of a production facility? In Pacheco, Argentina, this has long been a reality. Environmental protection was put into action with the creation of an artificial lake to collect rainwater and provide a habitat for indigenous flora and fauna. 62 species of bird have already been counted here. Pacheco is only one example of how Volkswagen complements its global drinking water resource conservation initiatives with local projects.

In the past year, a project has been in place to introduce native plants to the artificial lake. This environmental restoration project will create a natural surrounding for the industrial center.

Ferdinand Porsche Institute Volkswagen Education and science

Education for the future: Volkswagen is supporting the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional in training engineers with a specific focus on the automotive industry. The students complete their degree program – which combines engineering and technology – at the university’s Ferdinand Porsche Institute in Pacheco, which was established by Volkswagen. The program is the only one of its kind in Argentina. There are 437 students in the UTN/FPI, of whom 242 are studying Engineering in the Automotive Industry and 195 are studying Superior Technical Management in the Automotive Industry.

Para verte mejor Volkswagen Equal opportunities

As part of a program launched in 2008, Volkswagen donated equipment for checking the eyesight of children in primary schools. Volkswagen also provides a car so that municipal medical personnel can visit the schools. In 2015, more than 5,000 students in 54 schools were checked and nearly 1,000 pairs of glasses – paid for by Volkswagen – were handed out to the children. Since the program’s inception in 2008, more than 9,000 children have been helped by this initiative.

Supporting the Manos Verdes Foundation Volkswagen Environmental protection

The Manos Verdes (“Green Hands”) Foundation was created to raise awareness of the environment and responsible use of natural resources among the population. The foundation provides start-up loans for recycling projects throughout the country.

Volunteer Group Volkswagen Voluntary work

In 2015, Volkswagen employees donated over 60 t of food, clothes, toys and school supplies to canteens and preschools run by charities.
